The City of Aurora Water Department is the third largest water provider in the state of Colorado. Serving almost 370,000 residents, their mission is to enhance and protect the quality of life for Aurora citizens by providing safe, dependable and sustainable water, sewer and stormwater services.

The Water Department currently manages a Wastewater Fund of almost $153 million, and a Water Fund of over $70 million. The Water Department’s budgeting process involves working with the City of Aurora, but using Excel spreadsheets to manage and share budget information became a greater challenge and burden. The Water Department was searching for a software solution with the ability to handle complex budget allocations, automated workflows and audit trail, as well as provide reporting and data visualization options.

Choosing to purchase Questica Budget’s Operating, Capital and Salaries modules, the Water Department can now take charge of their budget with greater efficiency and accuracy with our dynamic, multi-user system. By also including the Performance module, the Water Department can leverage financial and statistical information to track their goals and objectives throughout budget year. Completing the Water Department’s suite of solutions, Questica’s OpenBook data visualization tool will increase transparency and citizen engagement by making the budget accessible to citizens and stakeholders using easy to share charts, tables, descriptive text and informational pop-ups.

The Aurora Water Department wanted to stop using Excel spreadsheets and knew they needed a solution that was powerful, yet user-friendly. By selecting Questica Budget, the Water Department has chosen a suite of software solutions with a proven track record and can now work on their budgeting and forecasting goals with confidence.
