Established in 1888, the City of Escondido, California is located 30 miles northeast of San Diego and has a population of 151,000 people. Located in a mountain valley, Escondido is a diverse community known for its relaxed Southern California lifestyle and beautiful surroundings. Visitors to the City enjoy its wineries, craft breweries, arts and culture attractions, and charming historic downtown.
The City of Escondido manages a budget of approximately $98 million and struggled to put together their budget using Word and Excel. In an effort to meet the City’s ongoing goal to maintain Escondido as being efficiently managed, the City searched for a tool to make the budgeting process more efficient to allow more time to focus on research, analytical results, and modeling alternatives. The City needed a solution that would assist with payroll projections, cost allocations, and detailed reports – all within a collaborative environment. After attending a Questica Connect event in 2018, the City’s Budget Manager was impressed with the testimonials given by a number of Questica customers. Following an RFP process, a selection committee unanimously selected to adopt Questica Budget.
To be integrated with their PeopleSoft financial system, the City of Escondido purchased Questica Budget’s Operating, Capital, Salaries and Performance modules. The City now has a powerful multi-user system for budgeting, forecasting, reporting and performance monitoring.
