Questica welcomes South Suburban Parks and Recreation District

Stefan Baerg

Encompassing over 42 square miles on the southern edge of Denver, CO, the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District provides indoor and outdoor recreation amenities to 155,000 residents in six communities and three counties.

The District has been using Excel to handle their $73M budget, however, as their budgeting requirements became more complicated, they found the current process just wasn’t able to meet their needs. Their goal was to find a solution that would streamline both the operating and capital improvement plan (CIP) budgeting processes.

For the Operating budget, they were looking for the ability to better plan and budget for full time employee salaries and allocations. With a more complex CIP, it had also become too difficult to manage effectively using multiple spreadsheets. Overall, South Suburban Parks and Recreation District was looking for a system with clear audit trail, the ability to set security roles and which allowed for an automated workflow. With these specific goals in mind, they turned to Questica.

The District has purchased Questica Budget’s Operating, Salaries, Capital, and Performance modules which will integrate with their Dynamics GP financial system. Allocations, audit trails, security roles, and automated workflows are handled easily through our system, and our Salaries and Position Planning will allow the agency to forecast salaries.  Questica Budget’s Performance module will provide the ability to tie back strategic objectives to the District’s master plan to validate that objectives are being met at the department or program level.
