Known as the “City of Trees”, the City of Boise is located in the high desert of southwestern Idaho and alongside the Boise River. With a population of 226,570 residents, the City was number one on the Forbes list of America’s Fastest Growing Cities in 2018. Several major companies have headquarters in the City of Boise, such as Micron Technology, Simplot and Albertsons Inc.
The City had been using PowerPlan, a solution Questica acquired in 2017, for a number of years. The Budget Manager had previously used Questica Budget during his time at the City of Palo Alto and was familiar with how Questica is a powerful, multi-user system, with new features being added with every release. A feature that was a major factor in the decision to purchase Questica Budget was the ability to integrate Change Requests with the City’s Lawson financial system, and a Municipal Fee Schedule that had been created as a customization for the cities of Palo Alto and Sunnyvale (both Questica customers).
Using Questica Budget’s Operating, Salaries, Capital and Performance modules, the City of Boise can now collaboratively prepare their $753 million budget with accuracy and efficiency.
